Of Mice and Men

No, not going to quote Steinbeck, nor Bugs Bunny – no sign of “Georges” here…..

But – long story short – the previous post plans didn’t work out. Firstly, due to a home move, which came along fairly quickly, and gave little time to think about other things. Secondly, due to health issues, I’ve been unable to do much last couple of months (apart from practising moaning, sleeping, grumbling about a painful injury healing, and sleeping more than i’d really like due to painkillers. So basically it’s left me on an extended break from my projects.

I’ve decided to restart the work on Westen rather than try and pick up after several months away. However it’s restarting with at least a better idea of a plan, and of what needs doing.
So once i’m back to full health, that’s the priority.

Unfortunately it also meant i was unable to attend the last RetCon. I am hoping to go to the next one, but my health hasn’t been so good in general over the last few months, so we’ll have to see. May take some streaming gear and see about doing a show report if i go though. Again we’ll see.

I’ve also started to make a few plans for later projects. Westen is going to take easily to the end of this year, and a good chunk of next. However when that is done, there’s a couple of projects I do want to tackle. One being an update of an old game I rather enjoyed in the past, but I plan – as I’m thinking with Westen – to leave this as an open sourced project to allow other coders to enhance further. This was done with the original Spectrum version, and the game was expanded with new challenges etc. It’d be nice to see this done with the next project if possible.

Then I have another platformer project to tackle. This may take some time, due to the size and complexity, but it’s a game I’ve done a fair bit of roughed work on. We’ll see. 🙂

Anyway – will hope to post soon, as in this year. 🙂
